Coastal Hazard Zones Review Process

Posted on 20th July 16

The current process of reviewing the coastal hazard zones report of Tonkin and Taylor (2015) is in its final stretch. In the first week of August the Community Reference Group will meet with the panel of independent reviewers and representatives and elected members of local government. We will have the opportunity to discuss the Panel’s findings and seek further clarifications.

The Community Reference Group, through which much public input was received, has done a good job compiling a comprehensive set of questions on policy and science to address the fitness of Tonkin and Taylor (2015) report’s hazard mapping. However any further questions on the policy context and scientific material of the Tonkin and Taylor (2015) are welcomed and can be directed to Dr Matthew Hughes, Lecturer in Geohazards, Risk and Resilience, alongwith more information at http://www.christchurchsealevelrise.co.nz/
